Prestige Homeseeker & Darwin Collaboration

Darwin Escapes Talks Collaboration

Darwin Escapes is a UK based holiday home company, we currently have 21 locations, with 8 offering holiday home ownership and 2 golf courses, we are also continually expanding our portfolio. Our destinations range from Yorkshire, the Lake District and North Wales, to Devon, Dorset and the southernmost point in Cornwall. As a multi award-winning company, our most recent achievement is our very own Woodside Bay Lodge Retreat in the Isle of Wight, winning the AA Best Holiday Centre of the Year for 2018! We create luxurious holiday destinations, with sumptuous accommodation and top of the range facilities.

Darwin Escapes and Prestige Homeseeker have teamed up with interior design influencer, Charlotte Amor Valentine, from The Home That Made Me, to create a beautiful and one of a kind, prototype Buckland Lodge! Charlotte will be designing the whole interior of the lodge, from fixtures such as flooring, seating and units, to finishing touches including lamps, bedding and cushions. The lodge will then be transported to Darwin Escapes’ location in Devon, Hawkchurch Resort & Spa and will be available to purchase.

Charlotte is the talented creator of The Home That Made Me brand, with over 97,000 followers on Instagram, she has a fabulously engaged audience who follow her love of interiors and her life, including her family with Mr The Home That Made Me and the littles, and not forgetting her adorable Pug, Mungo. Charlotte also has a fantastic blog which hosts information on DIY makeovers, shabby chic upcycles, tips, tricks and tutorials, as well as lots of must-haves for the interior enthusiasts out there under the ‘shop my style’ section. Charlotte will be turning her very talented hand to the prototype Buckland, 3-bedroom lodge with built in decking.

This collaboration will help expose the idea of holiday home ownership to the growing world of interior enthusiasts, which is Charlotte’s target market and something both her, Darwin Escapes, and Prestige Homeseeker are passionate about. We really wanted to showcase that your holiday home is a ‘home away from home’ where you can add your personal style to all aspects of the holiday home, with those personal finishing touches throughout the lodge. Charlotte has previously worked with Darwin Escapes, penning a blog post about how you can create a true home from home in your holiday home, and we wanted to make that dream a reality for her, and ask her to design her very own lodge from scratch! Charlotte will be showcasing the whole process via her Instagram posts and stories, as well as her blog for you to follow.

Darwin Escapes chose to partner with Prestige Homeseeker for this fabulous collaboration as they are one of the leading forces in the industry, always willing to try new things and enthusiastic about new projects. Being innovative in this industry takes hard work and talent, which Silvano and his team are known for, as well as being known for stunning lodges, beautiful interiors and have a talented eye for detail. We also know how fabulous the team are at Prestige Homeseeker, and how much fun they would have designing the lodge with Charlotte!

So make sure to follow Darwin Escapes, Prestige Homeseeker, and The Home That Made Me on Instagram for more details and updates on this one of a kind lodge!

Prestige Homeseeker Founder Director Meets Local MP

Prestige Homeseeker Founder Director Meets Local MP

Prestige Homeseeker Founder Director, Silvano Geranio, meets our local MP, Peter Bone. Peter was present when our new factory opened back in 2008 & was pleased to hear of the growth of the company since our move & now employing over 400 people in Northamptonshire. Discussions were had on how Off Site Manufacturing & Park Homes could provide part of the solution for the current housing crisis plus raising awareness of how Park Homes are now in high demand as a real alternative to a brick built bungalow. If you think Park Homes should be part of the housing solution please let us know so we can forward your views to Peter so our views can be raised in Parliament.

Statement regarding fire compliance of wall and roof cladding materials

Statement regarding fire compliance of wall and roof cladding materials

In light of recent tragic events relating to the Grenfell Tower, we at Prestige Homeseeker feel it necessary to make a statement reassuring our customers that all wall and roof claddings used within our standard ranges are fully compliant with the applicable fire regulations, as set out in BS:3632:2015, the British Standard for residential park homes to which our homes are manufactured.

Within this standard it is stated that materials used for the external cladding of walls should have surfaces which have a minimum (fire) rating of Class 3 in accordance with BS 476-7:1997 (British Standard) or Euro Class D in accordance with BS EN 13501-1:2007+A1:2009 (European standard), where the lower the number/letter translates as the better the performance. These are essentially spread of flame tests which evaluate how a given material reacts to fire.

Below is a table listing our current standard external wall cladding types and respective fire classification of each. As it can be seen, all are either equal to or exceed the minimum required classification:

Cladding Type British Classification Equivalent European Classification
BS 476-7: 1997 BS EN 13501-1:2007+A1:2009
Canexel (Ridgewood, Ultraplank, Ced-R-Vue) Class 3 Class D
Cedar Class 3 Class D
Thermawood Class 3 Class D
Softwood Stained Class 3 Class D
Artefoam Class 3 Class D
Stipple on Magnesium Oxide Substrate Limited combustibility

(exceeds class 0)

Class A2

With regards to internal claddings to walls and ceilings, BS:3632:2015 states that materials used must have surfaces which are, in accordance with BS 476-7:1997, not less than Class 3, or at least Euro Class D in line with BS EN 13823:2010+A1:2014 and BS EN ISO 11925-2:2010. Again, all claddings used can be seen to be equivalent to or above this standard in the following table:

Cladding Type British Classification Equivalent European Classification
BS 476-7:1997 BS EN 13823:2010+A1:2014
BS EN ISO 11925-2:2010
Wallpaper on Plasterboard 0 B
Plasterboard Painted Limited Combustibility A2
MDF Painted 3 D
Rough Sawn Timber 3 D
Laminate 1 C
Tiled Non-combustible A1
Nuance Aquapanel 3 D
Vinyl Wrapped MDF 3 D
Smart Panel Painted 3 D

Also stipulated in BS:3632:2015 is the requirement for roof cladding materials to have a surface of fire resistance which is not less than classification “AC,” as defined in BS 476-3:2004, or classification Broof (t4) as defined in BS EN 13501-5:2004+A1:2009. Shown below are current roof covering options available and respective fire resistance classifications for each, once again both of which can be seen to meet current standards:

Cladding Type British Classification Equivalent European Classification
BS 476-3:2004 BS EN 13501-5:2004+A1:2009
Metrotile Sheet Tile AA Broof (t4)
Firestone Rubberguard FR Membrane AA Broof (t4)

We hope that this helps to clarify any queries relating to this important matter and welcome any further questions you may have on telephone number 01933 354000.
